Situated in Backbarrow, the cottage is easy to find (20 minutes from Junction 36 of the M6), has its own off road parking for 2 cars directly in front of the house and sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms - a double, a twin and a single..
.
The front door is accessed by 13 steps and leads into an entrance porch with space for outdoor clothes and shoes. In the entrance hall is a large wall mounted Ordnance Survey map of the local area - ideal for planning your next adventure.
.
The sitting room is an ideal place for relaxing after a day out; it has two comfortable settees, a TV with Amazon firestick and DVD/Blu-ray player and a large wood burner. We provide an initial supply of logs and more can be purchased from the local garage. There are games, jigsaws and Lake District themed books. Maybe, test your knowledge of the Lake District with questions from ‘The Lake District Quiz Book’ or thumb through the walking books to find an idea for the next day’s outing. We have produced a comprehensive ‘Information for Visitors’ book that can also be found in the sitting room and includes information about some of our favourite places and walks. In the coffee table drawers are loads of leaflets from tourist attractions around the region so you can start planning your adventures straight away.
There is also fast speed broadband. The dining area has a good sized table ideal for family meals, playing board games or doing a jigsaw. There is also a piece of hardboard stored behind the bookcase for jigsaw fun!
The kitchen has an electric cooker, a fridge freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave in addition to a good supply of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. We know that it is a real nuisance when self catering properties have blunt kitchen knives so we make sure that ours are sharpened regularly! Tea towels and oven gloves are provided and there is a heated towel rail.
.
Upstairs the double bedroom with en-suite shower room has a fabulous view of the garden and neighbouring rocky outcrops.
The twin room facing the front of the cottage, also has a view of the surrounding countryside and when the steam trains are running on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, these can also be glimpsed from this room. The 3rd bedroom is a single.
.
Lastly, upstairs, is the family bathroom, a luxurious room with an enormous bath as well as a shower. In both the family bathroom and the en-suite shower room there is a heated towel rail.
.
The cottage is heated by night storage heaters (and of course the wood burner is available for added cosiness).
There are also electric heaters in case you need extra instant warmth.
All bedding, bath and hand towels are provided.
A travel cot and high chair are also available - normally stored in cupboard on the landing. Please bring your own cot bedding.
.
The garden can be accessed through patio doors from the dining area and there is a table and chairs to enable you to, perhaps, enjoy a meal outdoors. Steps from this space lead up a steep path through the rocky garden to another seat.
The cottage and garden are strictly non-smoking and non-vaping.
